What is the 2'-ACE group?
2'-ACE or bis(2-acetoxyethoxy)methyl orthoester is the protecting group at the 2' position of the ribose sugar. This group is stable during oligo synthesis but is readily removed by mildly acidic conditions (i.e., 100 mM acetic acid, pH 3.8) after synthesis is complete. The 2'-ACE protecting group is removed during normal processing for all our catalog siRNA products as well as all custom siRNA syntheses except where option A1 requested at the time of order.
