Can Tet-promoter Hughes yeast strains grow on YPG?

YPG is the same as YPD except the carbon source is now non-fermentable (it is from glycerol - 3% glycerol) The yeast should grow OK although like all yeast they will grow a lot slower, it could take 4 days to a week for colonies to come up. Also one should be aware that doxycycline, which turns the tet promoter off in our strain collection, is thought to inhibit the mitochondrial ribosome at high concentrations - that is the activity of the antibiotic in bacteria, and the yeast mitochondrial ribosome is kind of like a simplified prokaryotic ribosome.
