How are seed siblings different from C911 controls?

Both are bench-level tools for use after an siRNA screen to determine if a result is due to on- or off-target silencing. Both use the experimental siRNAs (which demonstrate a phenotype) as their basis for design. C911 controls must be custom synthesized to alter positions 9, 10, and 11 of every experimental siRNA. There is one C911 control for any given experimental siRNA. Seed sibling controls are siRNAs with the same seed as the experimental siRNA but have no perfect-match target. Instead of custom synthesis, this approach utilizes existing Dharmacon predesigned siRNAs. Up to 5 are available per experimental siRNA.
